National facts about debate
“Studies show that debate programs can boost grades and test-scores. Students who
participated in one Chicago urban debate program were almost 20 percent more likely to
graduate than students who did not, according to a rigorous study released in 2011. The urban
debate students also had higher ACT scores and better GPAs.”

THE FUNCTION OF EDUCATION, THEREFORE, IS TO TEACH ONE TO THINK INTENSIVELY AND TO THINK CRITICALLY. BUT EDUCATION WHICH STOPS WITH EFFICIENCY MAY PROVE THE GREATEST MENACE TO SOCIETY. THE MOST DANGEROUS CRIMINAL MAY BE THE MAN GIFTED WITH REASON, BUT WITH NO MORALS.
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 1947
